The Szare Szeregi Monument was erected in memory of the 10,000 Polish scouts, known as the "grey ranks" for their grey uniforms, killed during the 1944 Warsaw Uprising and who lost their lives in Nazi concentration camps during the occupation of Poland (1939 - 1945.
